The project
The challenge
A steep site with a narrow access road and a client brief for a home that would need almost no upkeep as they got older.
The approach
We got involved at design development, working with the architect on retaining, cladding and roofing choices before anything was priced. Materials were chosen for how they age, not just how they look on day one.
The result
A calm, single-level home with cedar and metal cladding, deep eaves and a kitchen that looks straight down the valley.

Early involvement
We priced three cladding options with the architect before consent so the clients could choose with real numbers in front of them.
Access planned
A narrow road meant every delivery was scheduled and staged. The programme was built around it rather than fighting it.
Built to age
Materials and detailing were picked for a thirty-year life with minimal upkeep, which was the brief from day one.
